SRULI RECHT

Sruli Recht is an exemplar of the hybrid ethos. Equal parts innovator and provocateur, Recht has made a career of blurring the lines between fine art, runway fashion, and industrial design.

From his beginnings in the fashion arena to his own “Non-Product” series exploring the relationship between production materials and waste, Recht’s two decades of professional output have honed his contrarian approach to design and ritual.

With origins in Israel, Recht’s personal and professional journey has taken him from Johannesburg through Melbourne, London and Reykjavík; where the designer can be found in his studio, challenging established assumptions and long-entrenched practices.

While a champion of employing the latest bleeding-edge production methods and the creation of new materials, the only constant ingredient is narrative — a seamless integration of story and product that runs throughout his body of work.
